Waste Wise Clothing Swap and Film Fest tonight

Waste Wise Clothing Swap and Film Fest happens tonight at the arts centre.

The Waste Wise Clothing Swap and Film Fest is taking place tonight Friday, Oct. 23 in celebration of Waste Reduction Week.

The event will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Central Cariboo Arts Centre next to city hall and is sponsored by the Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society.

Organizer Brianna van de Wijngaard says that when people arrive they will give their donation of gently used clothing and shoes to a CCCS team member who will set everything up and then everyone starts "shopping" at the same time.

The kids go first from 5 to 5:30 p.m, then the adults shop. There will be change stations set up and any left over clothing will be donated to local organizations.

In between she says there will be opportunities for visiting and watching some of the short films that part of the RCBC film contest in 2011.

Check out the website at www.rcbc.ca/trailer-trashed. First place was The Lord of Recycling; second place Return it Redemption; and third place, Not a Moment Wasted.

People are asked to bring along reusable bags or boxes to take home their findings.

Waste Reduction Week activties continue to Sunday, Oct. 25 with the “I Got it at the Share Shed!” selfie showcase. Find out where to post via facebook.com/CCCSociety or the website under Waste Wise.
