A horse-drawn sleigh will be waiting Sunday to take people on a wintery ride through the countryside in celebration of Valentine’s Day. Donations for the rides help the Cariboo Draft Horse Association members bring their horses and wagons to participate in public events at various times of the year.

The Cariboo Draft Horse Club will once again be hosting it’s annual Valentine’s Day sleigh ride — weather permitting.

The ride will take place on Anderson Road from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13.

It is open to the public, and is by donation.

A concession will be available.

The Cariboo Draft Horse Club is a non-profit organization. The money raised through donations helps to cover the cost of insurance for the group to put on community events which is quite high.

Most recently, with donations from many businesses and individuals in the community, the club was able to purchase a professionally made wagon that will accommodate wheel chairs.

Some of the events the club participates in include the Williams Lake Stampede Parade, Christmas Lights and Santa Claus Parade, the Valentine’s outing and their most enjoyable events of the year providing a day of rides residents at the Senior’s Village and at other senior’s homes in the region.

Club members pay the cost of travel to bring their horses and wagons to these events, often making two trips to take first the horses, then the wagons or sleighs to the event.
