There are two great shows kicking off the new year at the Station House Gallery this month. Downstairs the gallery is filled with poetry, paintings of mynah birds and music. Upstairs you will find colourful by children who have taken art classes at the gallery. Madigan Riplinger, 6, pictured here with her art at the opening Thursday evening, says in her artist’s statement that art makes her happy. Her favourite things to draw and paint are flowers because: “I like the smell of them and I love the colours.” Her favourite material to do art with is clay. “You can make anything with it.” She would like people to notice that her art work is colourful.
