Volunteer appreciation nights continue this evening at the Tourism Discovery Centre with Jenny Robert singing and strumming tunes and lots of snacks and refreshments to enjoy along with visiting and discovering volunteer organizations in Williams Lake.

The events started Monday, April 24 and continue tonight, Tuesday, April 25, and Wednesday, April 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. each evening.

“The volunteer appreciation events are for many different non-profit organizations to come together and thank their volunteers as well as potentially gain some new volunteers,” says Ashlee Hyde manager of resource and community development with the United Way Thompson Nicola Cariboo, which is co-hosting the events with the Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce.

“We would like to invite everyone to come on out and be thanked for all they do in the community even if they are not already volunteering for one or many of the agencies participating in the events,” Hyde says.

Each evening participating organizations have information booths where people can learn more about the various volunteer organizations in the community.

Tuesday, April 25 participating groups will be the Williams Lake Hospice Society, Williams Lake Stampede Association, and United Way.

Wednesday, April 26 participating groups will be the Williams Lake Stampede Association, Canadian Mental Health Association, and United Way.

This event is free and again everyone is welcome, Hyde says.

“I hope that you are able to make a couple or all of the nights to capture our appreciation of the many volunteers in our community.”
