In what has been an unusually rainy spring the clouds managed to part for a few hours Tuesday for the annual Aboriginal Day Celebrations in the lakecity.

The celebrations began with a parade in the morning to Boitanio Park where the fun continued with music, lahah, hockey and other games, face painting, a bouncy castle, craft and art activities such as feather painting, bike demonstrations, and food booths.

New this year was the first annual Bannock Belly bannock making competition won by Const. Kevin Neufeld from the RCMP  Aboriginal Policing section.

Also new this year was a Summer Solstice Ceremony by the Secwepemc Health Caucus.

The Northern Shuswap Tribal Council hosted the activities along with various community groups.
