Jenny Palmgren is the new summer reading club co-ordinator at the Williams Lake Library.

Jenny Palmgren is the new summer reading club co-ordinator for the Cariboo Regional District library in Williams Lake. She said that she will organize fun summer activities for kids in the library including games, crafts, reading books and meeting friends their own age.

Palmgren said that she was delighted to get the job.

“My friend Melissa had this job before me and she absolutely loved it and thought I would, too, so I applied,” she explained.

“I was an avid reader from the time I was very young — I lived in the library when I was a kid. I also really like being with kids — I babysat since I was 11 years old, was a camp counsellor and sometimes looked after my friends’ kids.”

The combination of kids and the library is very appealing to Palmgren, who said that she is looking forward to giving kids opportunities to have fun with reading during the summer. The free summer reading club theme this summer is Up, Up and Away, with themes that include birds, bats and flying insects, super heroes and super powers, aircraft and flights, journeys and expeditions, stargazing and weather and space exploration.

Registration dates for the program, which starts on July 2, are Saturday June 22, Tuesday June 25, Wednesday June 26, Thursday June 27 and Friday June 28.
