Studio Theatre play among upcoming events in Williams Lake

The Studio Theatre’s latest play Glengarry Glen Ross finishes its two week run with shows tonight, and Saturday starting at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Revolving around four desperate real estate salesmen in 1980s era Chicago, Glengarry Glen Ross follows the triumphs and debacles of its characters as they drag each other through deception, betrayal, catastrophe…and a burglary.

There’s nothing these real estate sharks won’t do to close a deal.

Family Day

Free Skate

The Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex is hosting a free skate as well as offering free ice skate rentals to celebrate B.C. Family Day next week.

Made possible by a provincial government grant, the event will take place Monday, Feb. 10 from 10:30 a.m. to noon and will include free ice time and skate rentals.

 

 

 

 

Draft horse

Due to the very cold weather the Cariboo Draft Horse and Driving Association will host its annual Valentine’s Sleigh Rides have been moved from Sunday, Feb. 9 to Sunday, Feb. 16.

The rides are provided by donation at 1016 Anderson Road. Follow Dog Creek Road for 5.5 kilometres to Anderson Road on the left and continue to the very end of the road.

Everyone is welcome. There will also be a concession with hot chocolate, coffee and hot dogs available.

Wild game

Tickets are now available for the Sportsmen’s Associations annual wild game banquet and awards night fundraiser.

The event takes place Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Elks Hall. Tickets are available in advance at Chilcotin Guns, Surplus Herby’s, Blue Mountain Gunsmithing, and from club members.

 

 

 

Stampede dinner

The annual Williams Lake Stampede dinner, dance and auction is coming up on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Elks Hall.

Dance to the music of Clancy Wright and The Silverados.

Tickets are $25 each and available at Margetts Meats, Cariboo Saddlery, and Cariboo Spurs Apparel and Tack.

 

 

 

TRU GRIT

Plans are in the works for the third annual TRU GRIT gala to raise funds for scholarships for students attending Thompson Rivers University in Williams Lake. The event takes place Saturday, March 29.

The theme for the $120 a plate gala is Let’s go Gatsby. The goal is to raise $30,000 for the scholarship and awards fund. Tickets are available at TRU.
