A generous gesture by students in Shelly Peel's Grade 4 class at Mountview elementary will benefit Fort McMurray fire victims.

As part of Peel's class students participate in a Kids for Causes club and have come up with several creative ways to raise funds around town.

Sunday, Peyton Bailey, Isabelle Groundwater and Sienna McCarvill held a carwash by donation at Speedy Petey's where they raised $726.

On Monday, May 16 the students, McCarvill and Bailey, were at it again, this time selling iced tea by donation outside South 2nd Deli with the goal of raising another $100.

Parents Pheobe and Ryan Bailey helped out during the Speedy Petey's car wash, while Tracey Lee helped man the iced tea table on Monday.

To date, students in Peel's class have raised $1,006.20.
