Stampede royalty enjoys busy February

Well another month has flown by us and was of course filled with great memories. On Feb. 3, Nicole and I headed to Vernon to see the crowning of the 51st Queen Silver Star.

The weekend started off with us attending the very formal coronation, which was held in the arts performance theatre.

We got to see some of the talent, and impromtu speeches by the contestants.

The next evening, a public coronation in the park was held and we all sat watching as we took on the cold weather.

Later that evening we went to the formal dinner/royalty dance. Suprisingly they served us Chinese food and it was very delicious, and like always, the royalty dance was a blast.

The final day we were there we of course all had to squeeze on to a flat-bed truck that served as the “visiting royalty” float in the parade.

It was a great weekend and it was great to see all of my fellow “sparklehead” friends.

The next event we attended was the Stampede dinner, dance, and auction.

We got to sit at the table and give each lady a flower and hand out auction numbers.

Kirsten Braumandl, the Miss Rodeo Canada Princess was also at this event holding a fundraiser to help her with her travels.

It was great to have her company and help while we held up auction items, sold hats for the heads and tails game, and sold loonies for the Chinese auction.

It was a very entertaining evening and a great event.

On Valentine’s Day, we had the great opportunity to go to the “Empty Bowls Project” held at Beeotcheese Bistro and Bakery.

We took orders and served soup and beverages to the public. There  was a great turn out and there were people lined up out the door.

The kitchen ran out of bowls within an hour and then shortly after, ran out of soup. This event was a fundraiser for the Salvation Army food bank.

Last Saturday, we held a small fundraiser at the mall that included a jelly bean guess, sold handmade occasion cards, had a slide show of our pictures from our reign so far, sold popcorn, and sold jelly beans.

We would like to thank everyone for all their support, it is really appreciated.

Next on our list is the orientation with the new contestants, hopefully some more fundraisers, and the annual bull sale in April, as well as the Williams Lake Indoor Rodeo.

Hope to see you all there!
