SMART 55: Shamrock Luncheon coming up March 16 at centre

Smart 55

I am a Vancouver Canucks fan and, besides watching hockey, I watch football, soccer and whatever sporting event is going on rather than the news.

It’s too depressing to watch what is going on in this world of ours.

Businessmen turn politician and ending up entertainers — blatantly lying and getting away with it.

Here in Canada, a political candidate is acting like a Trump wannabe.

In North Korea, we have a dictator who is busy testing nuclear bombs and killing off oppositions. What will our children and grandchildren inherit — if they survive experimenting with drugs!

Seniors enjoy the moment and let the future take care of itself. On March 16, come and enjoy the Shamrock Luncheon, Bake and Craft Sale at the Seniors Activity Centre.

On March 26, support the seniors going to their 55-Plus BC Seniors Games by attending their fundraising dinner.

If you enjoy choral singing, the Senior Carolers will be singing at the Parade of Choirs on March 5 at Cariboo Bethel Church.

For crib players, there will be a crib tournament at the SAC on April 2.

There is so much going on right now that if anyone claims boredom he must have his head buried in the sand.

For more details on the upcoming events watch out for the posters.

By the way, if you have any issues concerning seniors, contact any of the OAPO directors, as we are gathering resolutions to take down to our convention in June.

Resolutions should be in by their next meeting on March 9 at 1 p.m.

Once again, the OAPO is raffling off a queen-sized quilt donated by the Senior Stitchers.

If you are out shopping and see them selling tickets, stop by and say hello, even if you decline buying a ticket at $2 each, don’t walk by as if they are invisible.

I was told to be healthy one has to keep busy. At this rate I will live to be 100.
