Thirteen non-profit community organizations decorated trees for Signal Point Gaming’s annual Festival of Trees.

Between Nov. 27 and Dec. 17 visitors who donated a food item or a gift for a child were given a ballot to vote for their favourite tree.

The three trees receiving the largest number of votes from the public will share in Signal Point’s Found Money Fund for the last quarter of the year.

This year the Lions Club, Cariboo Chilcotin Metis Association and the Blue Fins Swim Club entries received the most votes to win the found money, says   Shawn Phillips, Signal Point Gaming’s general manager.

The final total for the found money fund was still being counted and was  not available at press time.

Before Christmas representatives from the five agencies in the Central Interior Community Services Co-operative shared in the food and toy donations raised during the Festival of Trees.

These groups included the Williams Lake Boys and Girls Club, Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre, Women’s Contact Society, and the Cariboo Chilcotin Metis Association.

More than 1,000 food items, a small amount of cash donations, and many, many toys and some beautiful hand made baby quilts were collected for the groups.

“We at Signal Point would like to thank all participating charities and non-profits for their extra effort in making this year’s Festival of Trees a great one,” Phillips says.

“We have had many comments from guests saying that they were happy to see the event take place again.

“Guests have come to the facility this year planning to donate and vote for their favorite tree.”
