The spider webs are real at the Scout Island Nature Centre, which is hosting a Haunted Nature House just before Halloween.

On Saturday, Oct. 29 from 4-6 p.m. meet at the “haunted” Nature House where there will be a healthy pre-Halloween event with traditional Jack O’ Lantern carving, costume contest for the most Earth friendly outfit, ending with a twilight costume and pumpkin parade around the island at 5 p.m.

Scout Island’s Family Explorers and Young Naturalists’ Club invite the community to join them at the event that will include costume judging by Mary Forbes.

Event organizers ask attendees to not bring any candies that come with a wrapper.

Bring your prepped pumpkin (guts already removed and composted at home) and carving tools to create your own Jack O’ Lantern to light your way on your walk and to take home for your Monday night mayhem.

Kids must supervise all parents at all times to ensure they are being spooky. Attendees are also asked to bring a small flashlight or LED light to light their pumpkins for the walks — do not bring candles or peanuts.
