Little Erica Chelsea gives Santa Claus a cautious sideways glance, carefully checking him over from a comfortable distance away while enjoying the activities at the Esketemc First Nation Headstart Christmas Crafts Fair on Nov. 28.

Small children are not often certain that Santa is one of the good guys and Erica wasn’t totally convinced that she was safe to approach the bearded fellow. The fair had something to offer everyone, from the traditional wreaths, yule logs, baked and knitted goods, etc. to the cultural offerings such as Caroline Belleau’s booth featuring her beautiful dance regalia (also hand-dyed silk scarves), a booth selling dried fish and Indian ice cream (hooshum) and others selling skillfully made beaded jewelry and other items of interest.
