Fred Harvey was the big winner of the $9,900 one-of-a-kind ring designed and made by Geoff Bourdon and donated by Woodland Jewellers for the Cariboo Foundation Hospital Trust’s Christmas Gala to raise funds for a new digital mammography unit for Cariboo Memorial Hospital.

Fred won the ring on the sixth ticket he purchased as an after thought with a friendly, and lucky, pat on the head for Woodland Jewellers’ mascot  Hank.

As soon as he received the ring he presented it to his wife Cindy who put it on and doesn’t plan on taking it off.

The couple recently celebrated their 34th anniversary. “Wow! I’m getting shaky,” Cindy said, admiring the ring.

Cindy drives a school bus and Fred is a heavy-duty mechanic at Gibraltar Mine who has also run his own business.
