Cariboo Art Society member and retired school principal, Anne Kohut (left), enjoys seeing pictures of her friend and retired teacher Karla Van Diest’s grandchildren during the opening for the art society’s annual show taking place in the Station House Gallery this month. They taught together at Big Lake. Van Diest spent the winter in Athens, Albama with her grandchildren and children. Van Diest said they were about five miles from where a tornado hit and helped with the relief efforts. Kohut’s painting is on the wall to the right. The tulips to the left are by Lynda Sawyer.
