Radio hones speech skills

Speech arts adjudicator Catherine McCarthy holds diplomas in Music Theatre from Sheridan College, and BCIT’s Broadcast Journalism Program. She landed her first radio gig in 1999 at CKWL in Williams Lake, quickly moving up to CJCI. In early 2001, McCarthy moved to CKPG in Prince George where she lives today.

Over the years McCarthy has done everything from reading radio news, to reporting and anchoring on a part-time basis.

She is currently a Music Theatre teacher at Judy Russell’s Enchainement Dance Centre in Prince George, and is very involved in theatre productions in Prince George, including her recent favourite role of Fantine in Les Miserables.

She has been adjudicating speech arts throughout B.C. for 10 years.
