Randy Walter and Eileen Alberton are among more than 25 people in Williams Lake who have had parts of their hair dyed purple or had purple extensions put in their hair to raise awareness about the Purple Ribbon campaign to end violence against women. Purple ribbons, along with information cards, can be picked up at more than 50 businesses and service centres. Men and women are encouraged to wear them and let people know that violence against women is not acceptable. In recognition of Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, the lakecity’s Violence Awareness and Prevention Committee is holding a free luncheon on Tuesday, Dec. 6 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Rick Hansen room at City Hall.
