The Potato House Society will hold its annual general meeting on Monday, Jan. 23 at 5 p.m. with a potato pot-luck and social to follow from 6 to 8 p.m.
“Bring your favourite potato dish and recipe to be added to our cookbook,” says president Mary Forbes.
She encourages members to bring a friend to the event and anyone interested in preserving the potato house to attend.
There will be a short slide show at 6:30 p.m. on the society’s successes in 2011.
There will also be a presentation on the society’s proposal for a two-month art exhibition at the Station House Gallery during July and August this summer that would be called Community Roots: Art Inspired by the Potato House!
“Learn about Potato Dreams, our community theatre project for Stampede Weekend 2012 with Debra McNie,” Forbes adds.
The society is also starting a new letter writing campaign to Stuart McLean and Mike Holmes.
The door prize for the evening is a thermal imaging assessment of home insulation, or where it may be lacking, which Forbes says is valued at $500.
People can also support restoration of the potato house and its sustainability project through the purchase of Potato House T-shirts, memberships, and donations.
“As always it’s fun!” Forbes says. “Get involved, eat, hear stories or just hang out
