Play time at the Seniors Centre

When it’s cold outside and the snow is piled high there is always a warm welcome at the Seniors Activity Centre.

From music to yoga, quilting, lunches, and more, activities offered at the centre continue to grow.

“The calendar is getting fuller and fuller,” says manager Glenda Winger.

For a $20 a year membership fee, and a small fee of about 50 cents per activity anyone age 50 years or older can join the centre and participate in all the various activities offered.

The activities bring people together and offer recreational opportunities:

Elderberries musical jam: Fridays, 10 a.m.

Watercolour Painting: Wednesdays, 10 a.m.

Cribbage: Mondays, 1-3 p.m.; Fridays, 7-9 p.m.

Bridge: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1-3 p.m.

Carpet Bowling: Mondays and Wednesdays, 1-2:30 p.m

Floor Curling: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Quilting: Tuesdays, 12:30-3 p.m.

Feldenkrais: Wednesdays, 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Gentle Fit: Mondays, 10:45 a.m.

Balance and Agility: Thursdays, 10:45 a.m.

Yoga: Fridays, 10 a.m.

Seniors Advocate: Tuesdays, 1-3 p.m.

Bingo: Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Lunches: Monday to Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Monthly Birthday Party: Last Monday of the month.

Sometimes there are also special events organized for members and guests such as the Valentine’s Dessert and Tea coming up on Sunday, Feb. 12 from 2 to 3 p.m.

Just $2 regular and life members ages 80 plus are free.

A St. Patrick’s Day bazaar will also be held on March 16 starting at 11 a.m.
