The distinctive scent of freshly cut pine fills the air at the Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Centre, where earth-conscious people have gathered to craft and create Christmas decorations at this year’s Earth Friendly Holiday Event.
The room where the smell emanates from is the wreath making room, where wreath makers twist pine, fur and cedar around bicycle tires to create their own unique wreaths to hang from their door.
In the next room, artists colour in some decorative designs, while down the hallway children are busy squishing clay into Christmas ornaments to hang on the tree.

Before heading upstairs, visitors can duck in to meet the spinners and weavers, who are calmly working their craft while talking to visitors.
Up the stairs and around the corner, crafters are greeted by a splendid feast of tasty treats and crisp cider to keep them going while they explore the various options upstairs.
Children gladly painted birds ornaments provided by the Scout Island Nature Centre, while others worked on birch bark critter homes, and pinecone mice guided by members of the Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society.
The free crafts are part of a collaboration between the Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society, Scout Island Nature Centre and the Community Arts Council of Williams Lake and is the seventh event of the name.
The festivities go until 2 p.m. today, Saturday, Nov. 25.
