The B.C. SPCA’s fourth annual Wildlife-In-Focus Photography Contest is now open and digital photos can be submitted until Sept. 30.

The contest is a fundraiser for the BC SPCA’s Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre (Wild ARC) on southern Vancouver Island. Wild ARC cares for more than 2,000 orphaned and injured wild animals a year.

Sara Dubois, manager of wildlife services for the BC SPCA says there are many “opportunities for amateur photographers to showcase their talent and capture the resiliency of local wildlife.”

Prizes will be awarded for the top three photos in each of two categories: wild settings and backyard habitats.

Prizes to be won include a Velbon Sherpa tripod (valued at $110) and two Aero 70 camera backpacks (valued at $70 each) care of Broadway Camera; Vortex 10x26 Vanquish binoculars (valued at $159), care of Wild Birds Unlimited; two subscriptions to Canadian Art Magazine; and six subscriptions to Canadian Geographic Magazine.

The contest is open to all adults (age 14 years and up), backyard and amateur photographers residing in B.C. Learn more about this year’s contest and see winners from past contests at spca.bc.ca/wildlife-in-focus.
