The annual Pet Photos with Santa was a smash hit last weekend.
Hosted by the Williams Lake Veterinarian Hospital and run in partnership with Coun. Craig Smith of Aboutface Photography and the William Lake BC SPCA, this year’s event was one of the best ones for years. Smith said that, on the photography side of the event, they raised over $1,600 for the BC SPCA.
Smith said he took photos of 130 animals over the course of the event last Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This included mostly dogs, cats, two snakes and a single goat named Greg.
“This was probably one of the best years we’ve had,” Smith said. “I’ve done it every year for the last 11, I have a special place in my heart for the SPCA and that’s why we do this together.”

Animals have always been in Smith’s life and supporting the SPCA and the Veterinarian Hospital is his own way of giving back to them. He believes supporting these organizations is very important and judging by the number of return customers, Williams Lake agrees.
“I had one lady that said she had a picture of her dog as a puppy and one 11 years later before he passed on, and she’s got the two pictures together in a frame. It’s one of her most prized possessions and that makes me feel good, Smith said.
While Smith does not possess a crystal ball he said he fully intends to provide his photography skills again for next year.
