The Williams Lake branch of Operation Smile Canada is hosting a fundraiser on Saturday, April 30.

The Williams Lake branch of Operation Smile Canada is hosting a fundraiser on Saturday, April 30.

The event will include a dinner, live auction and a camouflage fashion show featuring fishing, hunting, and sports clothing.

The dinner will include country chilli, corn bread, biscuits, coleslaw, and dessert, says event organizer Bel Hume.

With its global partners Operation Smile Canada works in more than 60 countries with more than 6,000 medical volunteers, delivering safe, effective cleft palate/lip surgery and related medical care directly to children.

Many of these children have never seen a doctor before. Most simply can’t afford the care they need. Wherever Operation Smile volunteers go they work to build sustainability through training and education of local healthcare professionals.

They often leave behind vital medical equipment and supplies.

And in some countries where the need is tremendous, Operation Smile has established permanent care centres so children can be treated year round.

The event will be held at the Calvary Tabernacle basement hall on Carson Drive starting at 5:30 p.m.

Each surgery costs approximately $240.

Tickets are available at J&E Gifts and Treasures; BFF Fashions; The Open Book; and Bob’s Footwear and Apparel; or at the door.
