After the formal ceremonies at the museum Sunday morning, The Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin’s 25th anniversary Heritage Festival continued with a community picnic, a birthday cake, music, games and artisan demonstrations in Boitanio Park.

During the ceremonies and plaque unveiling held at the museum MC Williams Lake Band Coun. Rick Gilbert recalled some history of early Williams Lake and First Nations people and introduced the guest speakers with little stories and some humorous anecdotes.

First Nations elder Cecilia DeRose said a prayer in her traditonal language while Victorine and Willie Alphonse provided an honour song.

Congratulations and words about the importance of the museum and preserving our heritage were extended by Mayor Walt Cobb, Cariboo Regional District Director Joan Sorley, Cariboo Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett and museum president Mike McDonough.
