A handful of aspiring artists put their paintbrushes to canvas during the weekend when the Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Society hosted a mural workshop.

Mural artist Dwayne Davis and painter and nature illustrator Lee Sollenberger guided participants through the steps and procedures required to produce beautiful artwork, which will be displayed at the society’s May show at the Station House Gallery titled Collaboration — Paint it Forward.

“It’s amazing how many steps and details go into this,” said workshop participant Yvette Rogers.

Participants worked in up to groups of three on scenic murals of sights from in and around Williams Lake, guided by just a small image of the locations.

Most, some with artistic backgrounds in other mediums, had never attempted mural painting before.

Beatrix Linde said she works with fabric, and signed up to improve her ability to view an image and translate it onto her art.

“It’s really helping a lot,” she told Davis, whose artwork can been seen on buildings throughout the lakecity.
