All sorts of colourful characters joined the plot for the Marie Sharpe Elementary School production of 101 Dalmatians staged for students and parents at the school just before the spring break.

Marie Sharpe elementary students presented the play 101 Dalmatians for their parents and the public on March 8 and 9.

The musical was produced by a group of parents and, along with support and help from teachers, the play turned out to be a great, fun performance, says Tammy Watson.

More than 101 children performed in the play.

The “puppies” were children in the younger classes, all dressed in their matching spotted shirts and ears.

“The play included great songs and dance skits with the help of some talented moms,” Watson says. “The backdrops were done with an amazing amount of thrifty items ... lots of cardboard, tape and imagination.”

Cruella de Vil was played alternately by Mikayla Gorack and Larissa Worrington.

The play included the original cast and groups of different dogs such as: Kanine Krunchie dogs, poodles, Chichuahuas, boxers, Scotties and Thunderbolt dogs.

Admission to the play was by donations and the funds were donated to the Marie Sharpe parent advisory council for the fundraising efforts for a new playground.
