Leaf pick-up continues through November

The Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society’s Fall Leaf Recycling project is back on the road again for 2014.

The Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society’s Fall Leaf Recycling project is back on the road again for 2014.

Volunteers and staff will be picking up bags of clean leaves around the city until the end of November, says Brianna van de Wijngaard, the water and waste wise community liaison.

"In 2013, the CCCS Waste Wise program converted 116 bags of leaf litter into compost and garden mulch, and we want to do even better this year," van de Wijngaard says.

"With most leaf litter going to the landfill, Waste Wise wants you to know we will gladly save you a trip and take it for you."

She says they can compost any clean leaf litter that is pre-bagged. This excludes leaf litter from roads and parking lots.

"Just give us a call or email, and we’ll come pick it up from within city limits, free of charge," van de Wijngaard says.

Pick-ups are arranged once a week, but bagged leaves can also be dropped off at the Potato House any day of the week.

Look for the “leaf litter” signage on site.
