The Williams Lake BC Liquor Store raised a total of $10,947.47 in its campaign this year to support the 2016 Dry Grad party held at the Cariboo Memorial Complex June 11.

The total placed the lakecity liquor store first in the province in collecting funds for Dry Grad events, says Denice Hoem, lakecity sales associate, who was the province’s highest individual fundraiser.

During the month-long campaign in March, customers who donated $1 or more for the 2016 Dry Grad received a small package of chocolate.

Hoem, who didn’t want to be photographed, says the Williams Lake store has consistently been among the top five Dry Grad fundraisers in the province.

She said the average donation was $5 but many people gave even larger donations to help support the event.

“I would like to thank our employees and our customers for their generosity and continuing support every year for Dry Grad,” said store manager Matt Tremblay.  “We very much appreciate the support.”

Now in its 16th year, BC Liquor Store customers province-wide have raised more than $5.8 million for alcohol-free events in their communities through the program.

Through its commitment to corporate social responsibility, the BC Liquor Stores management encourages the responsible use of beverage alcohol by promoting awareness and prohibiting the sale of alcohol to minors.
