The students picked up their completed projects last week. Another camp instructed by lakecity potter Lesley Lloyd is taking place at the centre this week. “The kids are great,” Lloyd says. “They are so fun to teach.” There are two-hour morning (9:30 to 11:30 a.m.) and afternoon classes (1:30 to 3:30 p.m.) for children ages five and up, with reduced rates for family groups. During the sessions the children work on clay creation projects such as slab, coil, and pinch pot hand building and try throwing pots on the potter’s wheel with the instructor’s help. Lloyd fires and glazes the best of the pots children make for them to take home. The children also try painting some of the fired pots themselves with acrylic paint. Making masks and animal sculptures are popular activities in the classes. Call Lloyd at 250-392-7304 to register.
