It is with deep sadness that the family of Joyce Elaine Gibbs announce her passing on Monday, March 25.

Joyce was born Feb. 18, 1930 in Brandon, Manitoba.

She moved to Vancouver in her mid-teens.

Joyce married Dave Gibbs in 1954.  Joyce and Dave raised two children in North Vancouver and then in Abbotsford, B.C.

Joyce and Dave retired to Gabriola Island where Joyce made great friends, and became involved in the many activities the island life provided.

Joyce was an extremely active and artistic woman.

She loved to sew and often made her children’s clothing.

She had a fabulous sense of style which her children truly appreciated.

Joyce had a gift for drawing and painting and enjoyed spending time with her friends in art classes.

She was naturally athletic.

Over the years she loved to downhill ski, she taught tennis lessons and was the captain of the ladies’ golf club.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Dave, and her son David.

She leaves to mourn her daughter, Lorraine Levitt (Mike), her grandson Cole Levitt (Allison), her granddaughter Brittany Levitt (Kevin), her granddaughter Tasha Levitt (James) and her great-grandson Hudson Levitt.

This summer Joyce will be returned to the island that she and Dave spent so many happy years.
