A group of Marie Sharpe Elementary students opened the First Nations Role Model ceremonies held at the school Wednesday evening with an impressive display of hoop dancing.

The students have taken lessons with elder Francis Johnson Sr. for seven weeks and made their own hoops as part of the program. Visible from the left are Cashis Phung, Denza Phung, Mack Honeyman and Josiah Jones-Cleve. The other dancers performing with the group were Victoria LeBlanc, Isidore Kalelest, Dustin Chow, Angelena Jack-Evans, Willamena Honeyman, and Koby Craig.
