Horsefly hosts Texas Hold’em tourney

The Horsefly Community Club held its second Texas Hold’em poker tournament on Nov. 3.

The Horsefly Community Club held its second Texas Hold’em poker tournament on Nov. 3.

The club’s goal is to eventually raise enough funds to build a roof over our outdoor hockey rink.

This area is also used as our fair grounds, Arts on The Fly entrance, tennis court, and of course summer hockey, and almost anything else the young folk can think of.

Our first tournament pretty well just broke even, but we are optimistic that word of mouth and a little article in the Tribune might help bring a few more folk out.

As the reader can surmise, a new roof over the ice rink is no small venture, so the plan is to have a series of poker tournaments until our goal is met.

The next tournament will take place on Nov. 19 at the Horsefly Community Hall.  Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. Play begins at 1 p.m. sharp.

Advance tickets are available only at Clarke’s General Store or the Anvil Pub in Horsefly.

Ticket sales are limited to 100 entries only, and are on sale now.  Admission is $75 with five cash payouts in prizes of $1000, $500, $250, $125, and $100 respectively.

For more information regarding the tournament please phone 250-620-3323.
