Go big or go home.
That's what you could say after seeing the size of the community Christmas tree in Horsefly, B.C.
The tree stands about 24 feet tall.
Horsefly puts up a community Christmas tree every year, near the skating rink, said local resident Linda Bartsch.
It is part of the old-fashioned Christmas festivities in the community, she said, which include horse-drawn sleigh rides that depart from and return to the tree.
The tree was donated by Minette and Florian Leffer at Elska Acres farm.
"Guy Walt is doing some logging on our farm and asked if he could take a tree from our place," Minette said.
Minette did not grow up in Horsefly but said she loves the sense of community.
"The old-fashioned Christmas is really great. It's a big thing they put on for the kids at the community hall where they have performances, carolling, a full dinner and desserts and then Santa comes and all the children get to talk with Santa," she said.
There is also a big bonfire at the community Christmas tree, she added.
This year's old-fashioned Christmas happens on Saturday, Dec. 14 beginning at 1 p.m.
