Horsefly celebrations feature Maypole dance

The annual May Day celebrations will take place this Saturday, May 14 in Horsefly.

The annual May Day celebrations will take place this Saturday, May 14 in Horsefly.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. and the Maypole dance takes place at 11:45 a.m. in the school grounds. 

There will be a flea market from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the small arena, or in the community hall if it rains. 

There will also be a barbecue lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and family games from noon until 1 p.m.

The April 21, Horsefly River Roundtable meeting was cancelled due to many of the directors being out of town on business. 

The next roundtable meeting will take place at the Horsefly Library on May 19, at 7 p.m.

The Horsefly Follies closed another successful season Saturday April 7.

The entire cast and crew deserve huge kudos for their combined effort, which produced a masterpiece. 

They closed to encores, and much foot-stomping fun was had by all attendees.
