Horsefly 4-H Club enjoys annual sledding party

Once again the Horsefly 4-H club has had an active couple of months.

At the beginning of February we had an annual sledding party that was held in the old gravel pit just outside of Horsefly.

It was a beautiful, sunny day.

Our A-Leader Linda Bartsch lit a fire in case we got cold.

The owners of the Horsefly gas station Carla and Frank Wijma brought their snowmobiles, so we didn’t have to walk up the very steep hill.

Thank you!

We had a few members bring snowboards and tried to snowboard down the hill. Overall the day was great. Everyone had their crashes and tumbles and loads of fun.

We just recently had our 4-H speeches on Friday, Feb. 25. It was held in the Horsefly school gym. It was quite a long night because we have a lot of members this year.

The Clover Buds did a great job. They had cute speeches and are going to be great speakers once they’re older. We would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time for judging, time keeping, and MCing the night.

Kathee Sukert was our MC. Jennifer Teppema, Kelli Niquidet, and Teresa Mack kept the time. Senior judges were Kurt and Sandy Tugnum and Susie Ambrose.

Junior judges were Selina Laffer, Eleanor Godlonton, and Ron Godlonton.

I would also like to thank the Horsefly school students who helped set up the tables and chairs: Nolan Kowalski, Kennedy and Cody Mack, Kyle Masse, Nick and Selena Farkas.

Jack Teppema and Garrett Best went on to districts to compete. They did a great job and we are proud of them for continuing on.

March was a bit quieter, just our monthly meeting and continuing with our various projects.

I would like to thank the community of Horsefly for continuing its support for our club.
