Harvest Nutrition Run Sept. 21 sees solid turnout on a damp day

A rainy morning eased to some light sprinkles during the event

The Harvest Nutrition Run (or walk, or roll) drew a crowd, despite morning rain on Sept. 21 in Williams Lake.

But the rain had mostly stopped by the time the run got underway at 11 a.m. from the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex and held of for most of the duration, with just a few sprinkles.

The rec centre and Interior Health organized the event once again and around 80 participants came out to complete the 5 km course, including a young Timberwolves hockey team.

Williams Lake Citizens on Patrol (COP) helped keep the runners, walkers and rollers safe on the course through the community, with traffic control at some key intersections and Bob Sunner riding his bike along the route to keep COP volunteers on top of where the group was.

There were prizes for those who completed the I Spy a Scarecrow contest, thanks to Interior Health, and a draw prize of a tote bag full of fresh local produce thanks to the Williams Lake Farmers Market, and fresh fruit for all participants thanks to FreshCo and Save-On-Foods donations.

Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society provided composting support and some dried bananas to fuel the event.

The Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society, Interior Health, and Streets for All Williams Lake all had information tables at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex for people to check out as well.
