The deadline on entries for the 2012 Williams Lake Stampede Queen contest closed Jan. 23 with four candidates in the running.
The candidates are Terris Billyboy, Miss Boitanio Mall; Christina Walsh, Miss Overlander Ramada Hotel; Michelle Ball, Miss Gustafson’s Dodge; and Alexis Forseille, Miss Lake Excavating, Ltd.
The girls will be out and about in the community soon.
Among their first formal events will be an introduction to city council.
The contest includes training and judging in public speaking, horsemanship, knowledge of the Williams Lake Stampede and rodeo and the community, as well as time management, general deportment, wardrobe and other lifelong skills.
The program provides opportunities to develop new friendships and participate in many community events while building self-confidence, self-esteem and gaining valuable experience for resumes, university and job applications and much more.
