There was no gender discrimination in play when the Fire Chief was selected for the Esketemc First Nation Reserve; thusly the first Fire Chief to take the reins and be in charge of the large new fire hall and to drive the new fire truck, is a woman.
The job went to hometown girl, Lillie Johnson, who was born and raised on the Alkali Lake Reserve.
First order of business for Johnson was overseeing a community clean-up last week.
