First Nations role models crowned

The 2016/17 First Nations Role Models were crowned Wednesday evening at Marie Sharpe elementary.

In a ceremony held at Marie Sharpe Elementary School Wednesday evening, School District 27s 2015/16 First Nations Role Models Joanna-Rae Alphonse (back left) and Brandon Stump crowned their 2016/17 successors Loretta Jeff-Combs (front left) and Pacen Setah.

There were seven nominees this year including Theresa Inscho, Laryssa Paul, Jayleen Case, Aliza Paul and Dallas George Jr. During the ceremony Joanna-Rae and Brandon took turns reading the nomination biographies of each of the candidates as they were presented in a walk around the gymnasium with their escorts.
