Elder College registration begins Sept. 14

Elder College has a new selection of interesting and challenging courses lined up for elders, both young and old, says Judy Jenkins.

Elder College has a new selection of interesting and challenging courses lined up for elders, both young and old, says Judy Jenkins.

Membership is the first step in registering for courses and will be available Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church.

Course registration will also start on Sept. 14 at 1 p.m. at St. Andrew’s and continue on Sept. 21 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Seniors Activity Centre.

Most courses will start in October. Elder College offers a unique choice of classes at reasonable cost for members 50 and older.

New courses this term include an introduction to furniture reupholstery; plants of the Shuswap people; Canada’s status in today’s world, where do we go from here, how to read music; and animals in art, literature and folklore.

Returning courses include pottery; a Canadian geological journey; amateur astronomy; bridge for beginners; Cariboo historical tour; calligraphy; cell phone usage; introduction to computers; and the next step in computers.

The free community service course is Healthy Living With Chronic Conditions.
