Earth Day mural painting today

The community is invited to help paint a mural and plant a tree today to celebrate an Extra Good Friday, Earth Day in the lakecity.

The community is invited to help paint a mural and plant a tree today  to celebrate  an Extra Good Friday, Earth Day in the lakecity.

The mural will be painted on the alley side of the Delainey building, at 271 Oliver St. between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. with reclaimed and gifted exterior latex paint, says Mary Forbes, community presenter for the Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society.

People who wish to participate are asked to bring along a paint brush, rubber gloves, safety glasses and water to drink.

Before the mural painting people are invited to plant a tree at Scout Island Nature Centre between 9 a.m. and noon. Participants are advised to wear good shoes, bring garden gloves and long pants.  

 

Forbes says many community partners will participate in the events including the Station House Gallery, Cariboo Growers, the Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society, the Council of Canadians, Satya Yoga studio and The Potato House Project.
