Dr. Derksen secretary of B.C. association

Williams Lake optometrist Dr. Daniel Derksen, has been elected as secretary-treasurer of the B.C. Association of Optometrists.

Williams Lake optometrist Dr. Daniel Derksen, has been elected as secretary-treasurer of the B.C. Association of Optometrists.

The election took place at the end of February during BCAO’s annual conference.

Derksen attended the University of British Columbia where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

He went on to the University of Waterloo for five more years where he earned a Doctor of Optometry degree. He practiced optometry in Kelowna and Winfield for four years before moving to Williams Lake in April of 1996 to take over Cariboo Eye Clinic.

In the years since taking over the practice it has expanded to include five doctors of optometry and larger facilities.

The B.C. executive includes president Dr. Sherman Tung of Vancouver; Dr. Lloyd Mah of Coquitlam as vice-president in addition to the board of directors.
