Dancing for the salmon

The 2011 Horsefly River Salmon Festival, coming up this weekend in Horsefly has a little something for the whole family.

The 2011 Horsefly River Salmon Festival, coming up this weekend in Horsefly has a little something for the whole family.

There will be activities and information stations set up all along the banks of the river just across the bridge in Horsefly where there are also places to camp.

Free activities will happen both days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 3 and 4.

Knowledgeable river interpreters will be there to answer questions about salmon and provide information about invertebrates.

Judy Hilloughby from the department of fisheries and oceans will dissect and explain the anatomy of fish.

Craft activities such as making fish prints and fish-on-a-stick will also be offered.

On Saturday only vintage car club owners from Quesnel and Williams Lake are invited to show their vehicles.

Saturday afternoon there will be a flat-footing dance workshop followed by a community dance in the hall in the evening. Tickets are $5 or $15 for a family at the door.
