Credit Union awards bursaries

Williams Lake and District Credit Union recently presented three $1,000 bursaries to graduating students of Williams Lake secondary schools.

Williams Lake and District Credit Union recently presented three $1,000 bursaries to graduating students of Williams Lake secondary schools.

The recipients are Columneetza secondary’s Allison Tew and Williams Lake secondary’s Elsa Navratil and Lane Rolph

Allison’s immediate plans include working for the summer before travelling to South America in the fall.

She intends to return to Thompson Rivers University to pursue a bachelor of science degree.

Elsa will travel to Spain in August to attend World Youth Day. Her plans for higher education include attending Okanagan University College to pursue a degree in business administration.

Elsa supports her community through the Big Brothers and Big Sisters mentoring program, teaching Sunday school and teaching ballet.

Lane’s volunteerism will take him to Mexico this summer where he will be involved in building houses for the poor.

Upon his return to Williams Lake, Lane plans to work for a year before attending UBC Okanagan to pursue a career in nursing.
