Potato House Society

pot luck

The Potato House Society is holding a pot luck social at Scout Island Nature House this Sunday Jan. 16 starting at 2 p.m.

Society members and those who would like to support the project or become members are invited to bring along a dish made from potatoes to share . Also bring along ideas on how to raise the last $3,300 needed to purchase the property and ideas for its use as Williams Lake’s centre for sustainability.

Carbon-neutral local PHP (Potato House Project) dress shirts will be available for purchase at $20 each to help support the Potato House purchase and restoration project. Or people can bring along their own shirt to have it silkscreened for any donation over $10.

There will be a draw for a free corporate membership worth $100 and a prize of a free carbon neutral shirt for the favourite potato pot luck dish.

Tuesdays with Morrie

The play Tuesdays with Morrie is coming to the Gibraltar Room in Williams Lake on Jan. 26 for one performance only starting at 7:30 p.m.

Tuesdays with Morrie is a touching, life-affirming drama with a generous dose of humour which has produced standing ovations from 45,000 people and counting. Written by J. Hatcher and M. Alborn, the play stars Antony Holland in his Jessie Award winning role as Professor Morrie Schwartz and Antonio Gradanti as Mitch.

It is a heartwarming story about a student and a teacher who were close while the student is at university but as life goes on lose touch, then meet again later in life , after the professor is struck with a life-threatening illness.

Proceeds from the play will go to the Central Cariboo Hospice and Palliative Care Society.

Tickets are $15 and available at the Open Book, Bean Counter and Hospice office at 530 Fourth Ave. North and at the door on a first come first serve basis.
