Community briefs: Annual Chilcotin Road Elementary ladies night Friday

The Chilcotin Road Elementary school Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is hosting its sixth annual Ladies Night Open House.

The Chilcotin Road Elementary school Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is hosting its sixth annual Ladies Night Open House fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 17.

The event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. in the school gymnasium and features more than 46 tables of goods on sale by local home-based businesses and crafters.

There is no entry fee and all ages are welcome.

Bridal and Grad fashion show extravaganza

The Bridal and Grad Extravaganza, takes place Sunday, Feb. 19 at the Elks Hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a fashion show starting at 2 p.m. A portion of the $15 entry fee will be donated to the Cariboo Foundation Hospital Trust. Tickets are available at Brides and Belles and The Realm of Toys in Williams Lake.

SPCA canine open house

The B.C. SPCA Williams Lake and District branch is holding a Crazy for Cupcakes and Canines open house on Monday, Feb. 27 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Visit the shelter on Bond Lake Road for some fun and games.

There will be lots and lots of cupcakes available for you and your sweetheart, says manager Liz Dighton.

Daybreak Rotary annual used book sale

The 26th annual Daybreak Rotary Club Giant Used Book Sale, will take place Feb. 12 to 25 in the upper level of Boitanio Mall.

Donation bins are located at Safeway, Save-On-Foods, Boitanio Mall (main entrance), 150 Mile House Centre. For pick up call 250-392-4498.

Chilcotin Navy League AGM

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the Navy League of Canada, Chilcotin Branch is coming up on Saturday, March 4. The meeting is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. at the Sea Cadet office on First Ave. and will see the election of a new league.

The Sea Cadets and Department of National Defence jointly run the league, which has more than 50 years of history in the lakecity.

Chilcotin Navy League second vice-president Bob Harker said the league welcomes volunteers and youth ages 12 to 19 to join.

“Anyone can be a member. As with all volunteer run groups, the more the merrier,” he said.
