Williams Lake city council declared June 1 to July 1, 2024 as Stampede Season in the community.

“Yahoo, Stampede time!” cheered Mayor Surinderpal Rathor at the May 29 city council meeting as the proclamation came up on the agenda, encouraging the community to take part and enjoy the festivities.

This year marks the 96th anniversary of the Williams Lake Stampede from June 28 to July 1. In its proclamation, city council encourages residents, merchants and service organizations to promote the 2024 Stampede festivities , as well as requests the community to decorate their places of business in Western decor, wear Western clothing during the month, and to support the Stampede Association.

They also encouraged the community to extend a “friendly Cariboo smile and a hearty welcome to all visitors to the city.”

The Williams Lake Stampede will run June 28 to July 1 this year.
