Chimney Valley 4-H hosts district speech competition

The Chimney Valley 4-H Club speech day was held Feb. 19.

Judges for seniors were Ralph Fowler, Karrie Paterson, and Betty Weetman; for the juniors Kelvin Parent, Julia Berry, and Rilla Warwick. 

The only speak and show was done by Allan Stafford. He received first place. 

Senior speech winners were Lexi Colton in third with her talk about Speckled Park cattle; Adam Stafford in second place talking about Anorexia Nervosa; and Amy Stafford in first place with her talk on the English language.

In junior speeches Ayme Desmond placed third with her talk on dinosaurs; Benn Stafford was second with his talk on ancient Greece; and Adriane Kennedy placed first with a talk about about Walt Disney.  

Thank you to the judges for taking time to judge the speeches. 

Karrie Paterson gave a few comments on the speeches and said that the junior speeches were some of the best she has ever heard.

Kelvin Parent also talked and gave some pointers on how to do better.

The first and second place speech winners will be going to the district speech competition March 5 at Mountview elementary school starting at 1 p.m. 

Chimney Valley 4-H Club is hosting the district speeches.
