Central Cariboo Art Route finalized

The Central Cariboo Art Route 2013 guide has been finalized, says society co-ordinator Leah Selk.

The Central Cariboo Art Route 2013 has been finalized.

“The Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Society, with the support of the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association and the Cariboo Regional District, are pleased to present the 2013 Central Cariboo Art Route,” says society co-ordinator Leah Selk.

Participating in the open studio program this year are textile artist Maureen LeBourdais, banjo makers Jason and Pharis Romero, the Williams Lake Spinners and Weavers and Fibre Artists Guild, potter Lesley Lloyd, wood artist George Phillips, painter Mark Kopp, quilter Janet Bedford, painter Cat Fink, art framer Bruce Charbonneau, the Station House Gallery, and the Gecko Tree Cafe

“The Central Cariboo Art Route is an opportunity to develop the arts sector and showcase the region’s artists and artisans,” Selk says.

“We are very excited to invite you to embark on this regional tour.”

By using the Central Cariboo Art Route guide, available either as a printed brochure or through the interactive website, locals and visitors alike can map out their travels and have the chance to connect with artists at work, gaining a deeper sense of their practice.

She says people shouldn’t be shy about contacting artists or visiting studios during posted hours.

“Artists and businesses displaying the Central Cariboo Art Route logo are participants in the 2013 Route,” Selk says.

“We look forward to welcoming you!”

Increased market exposure and revenue generated for local artists through direct sales and/or post-visit shipping orders, along with increased visits and sales to local galleries and cafes, has the potential to transform our resource dependent economy to a diversified economy, rich in artistic talent, Selk reports.

Brochures may be found at participating studios and businesses, at the Central Cariboo Arts Centre (90 Fourth Avenue North), at various Tourist Information centres across the province, or by visiting www.centralcaribooarts.com and clicking on Art Route.

This art route project is supported by the Community Tourism Opportunities (CTO) program under the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation.
