Nicholas Dyson will be a featured guest performer at the Nov. 9 Cariboo Gold Dance Band performance.

Members of the Cariboo Gold Dance Band (CGDB) are ramping up in preparation for their show titled Then and Now on Nov. 9.
The show will feature the sensational trumpet player Nicholas Dyson.

Counting down rehearsals before the performance members are putting the finishing touches on a wide selection of big band music for the evening.
“The first set will showcase the swing style that evolved from the 20's and 30's and up to [the Second World War] — that of course is the 'then'," explains Mike Barbour, tenor sax player for the band. He said set two will focus on the jazz and swing songs that developed following the war, including some recent tunes.
“And its our anniversary,” Barbour adds, “The CGDB is celebrating 40 years of performing together.”
Featured throughout the performance will be the amazing trumpet player, Nicholas Dyson.

Dyson will be working and rehearsing with the CGDB in preparation for the evening. Being an educator and advocate for music in schools, Nicholas will also be working with band students at Columneetza Secondary School in their jazz band program along side their teacher Dena Baumann.
This show is only for one night but is sure to be incredible. Traditional classic swing, blues, Latin, R'n'B and a little contemporary jazz, ensures there will be music sure to entertain. And for those that enjoy dancing, of course the dance floor will be right out front.

If you love live music and the big band sound, you might want to wear your dancing shoes. This family-friendly big band performance will be one you don't want to miss.
Doors to the Gibraltar Room at the Cariboo Memorial Complex will open at 7 p.m. and the show will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the show are at The Open Book and at the door if still available. The CGDB would like to thank the Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Society, the city of Williams Lake and the Cariboo Regional
District for their continued support of live music in our community.
